... my name is Matthias Grabmair. I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Intelligent Systems Program at the University of Pittsburgh working under the supervision of Prof. Kevin D. Ashley. This website contains information about my academic work and serves as a platform for project and teaching activities I engage in.
My primary research area is Artificial Intelligence and Law, specifically the extraction of semantic information from legal documents as well as knowledge and argument representation techniques for modeling legal reasoning with the greatest possible authenticity to its methodology.
I consider the exploration of argumentation patterns in Public International Law to be among the most challenging and interesting subjects in systematizing legal reasoning. When time permits, I volunteer as a judge and coach for the Jessup Moot Court Competition.
